The aim of this subtopic was to identify and explain the changing patterns and trends of regional and global disparities of life expectancy, education and income. We were also required to examine the progress made in meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in poverty reduction, education and health. We looked at several different disparity theories, as well as debating whether the Millenium Development Goals were a success or a failure.

The purpose of this activity was for my team to defend the statement: “Based on how successful the world has been at reducing poverty, improving health and/or improving education across the world, we have to admit the MDGs have for the most part been unsuccessful". In my group of three, we focused on how the MDGs have failed in regards to education. My notes are linked to this picture below.
